Mike Bohn who spoke about his latest book as well as local history.
Author and freelance journalist Mike Bohn will speak on January 15, 2015, at 6:00 pm. Mike, who lives in the Fort Hunt area, is a local history expert and will talk briefly about two of his books. First will be Mount Vernon, Revisited, a 2014 photo history of the greater Mount Vernon community.
Mike is also a former director of the White House Situation Room and has a new book ready for release in early February—Presidents in Crisis: Tough Decisions inside the White House from Truman to Obama. The book takes the reader into the Oval Office and Sit Room during crises that each president encountered during the period 1950-2014. Mike’s narrative presents the actual dialogue that presidents and their advisers exchanged when deciding how to respond to a 3:00 am phone call. Mike wrote a prequel in 2003—Nerve Center: Inside the White House Situation Room.
Lane Dolly who spoke about her latest book.
Before Lane Dolly’s love of travel and research drove her to novel writing, it led her from grassroots politics in her home state of Oklahoma to Washington, DC. She learned the ropes of partisan communication and logistics while working in the White House for President Ronald Reagan and for three Republican National Conventions, as well as in federal and state government, nonprofits and private firms.
